"So what do you think?" I questioned. Prof. Hephaestus shook his head. "I have no idea, Paul."

The troubled professor just sat there in silence, hoping that the tranquility will give him the answer to my question. I myself had no solutions. Jove's actions were just too queer, even for us. How was he to help mankind if he brought no one over?

"Tea?" Alice asked with such innocence and joy, forming a great contrast in atmosphere. I nodded and smiled. The beauty in Alice was almost angelic, if I were medieval. One cannot imagine her even as the adopted child of Jove.

"You do not happen to know your father's intentions, do you?" My question expected no answers, but simply a desperate attempt by a knight of infinite resignation.

"Of course. It is his dream to rule, from sources of power to people. He will not give up a chance to deify himself, no matter how small it may be." Her answer was not the first I have heard, yet for once such simple fact was neglected by me. More power! I looked at Prof. Hephaestus worriedly, hoping he would comment.

"We'll do something about it. If he think Man can be engineered to be obedient, he will be surprised." Prof. Hephaestus commented, hugging Alice with his only free hand. "You will help me, won't you Paul?"

I gave a sign of affirmation. Yet I have the most strange of all foresights. It told me that my decision was a wrong one. Is my foresight failing me again? I wonder.

"Dear! The news!" Alice exclaimed. We turned out heads to the tele-V, seeking the news which brought about an exclamation in Alice. Gasping at the sight and hearing of the news, such exclamation was justified.

"The United Empire General Assembly (UEGA) has ratified Resolution # 2910-12-001, allowing Mr. Jove Von Neumann, CEO of Specific Electrics to proceed with a space expedition. Reputed as the bravest deed since the Nuclear Wars, the expedition will be led by Prof. Paul R.O. Malkovski, Genetics and Thermodynamics Expert, and joined by various famed experts in many other fields. Mr. Vine Dion, CEO of this News network, V News, has been invited on board.

"Moreover, the UEGA has granted military protection, attaching the Alpha Rho Epsilon division force to this trip. Equipped with the latest technology and currently training for space travelling, the Alpha Rho Epsilon division had the honour of subduing rebellions on numerous occasions. The Division commander, General Andrew "Rocky" Evans, to whom the division owes its name, is also experienced in combat and technology alike. He started as a Praetorian..."

Prof. Hephaestus turned off the tele-V. "He's inviting media on board?" He murmured in disappointment.

"And an army with him, Professor." I continued. This was serious. His wild ideas were realising themselves. "I guess we have to invited some of our own friends."

"But who? We don't know any military personnels."

"We don't know an army, but we could make one."

"You mean automatons?"

"Yes, and for that we need..."

"Merc!" Our voices resonated, and so are our hopes. Yes, hope! Something I wish that no one will forget.
