Location: P. Pas, S-Andes
The Grand Army of the Meridian Republic has reached the borders of S-Andes. After conquering the eastern shores, General Luchonves has continued his expedition into realms further than any veteran of the Republic had gone before. Such valour in his blood, his soldiers whispered. Such wisdom shown in war. World dominance is near, and they were part of the cohesive force.
"We have reached River Kal, Sir! Our scouts report of no visible resistance nearby. The capital of S-Andes is within sight, just across the river. We await your orders, Sir." The nameless lieutenant reported. General Luchonves stared far into the landscape, as if he searches answers that lie in the fog.
"How are things back in Council City, Lieutenant?" He asked.
"The public is exhilarated by your victory, Sir, but the Council and Houses are awfully quiet about it. It seems that they have no wish to publicise your contributions, even though they are not secrets."
"That is strange enough. I have always worried about this. Where is Gochasus? Where is my friend?" At the sound of that, commands were passed to summon Gochasus, Intelligence of Interior Affairs.
"What summons me, my friend?" Gochasus exclaimed as he came in. Luchonves offered a seat to him, to which he accepted.
"I have heard of the awkward silence in the Council. What is happening in there?"
"What silence?"
"The cease of propaganda! The silence that seeks to hide my prowess into an endless pit! Gochasus do not lie to me! Something is wrong and I know it! "
Gochasus smiled and shook his head. "There is nothing wrong, my friend! All applauses must end at times, and we cannot afford to sing your praises to the public everyday. However, I can assure you that after your victory against the wily S-Andes, there will be pages after pages of stories that tell everyone how you won. Till then, I will be back in Council City and taking care of everything. Good luck. "
With that, the young intelligence took his leave. Never have the soldiers seen such cool reaction to the General’s heated arguments. The reasons behind the guts in Gochasus are unknown to all. Who would dare speak to the leader of the Grand Army in such a way? Puzzled officers stood in silence as the General fell into depression.
"The Republic Guards have landed in our camps and asked for your audience, Sir. " The nameless lieutenant reported, yet this time in fear. The General nodded his head and continued his deep thinking.
"General Luchonves, we have orders by the Council to summon and escort you back to Council City. We hope you will cooperate with us. " The 2nd-in-command of the Guards requested. He had always looked so serious, General Luchonves thought, and this time was no exception.
After that split second of thought, he snapped back to reality, only to realise that his expedition was over. The goal was right under his nose, yet he had to leave his prize. So near yet so far.
