Council Claims Rumours Slandering
(Time et Meridiana X+7/X/05 GMT18:00)

In response to the speculations made by the public, the Council held a press conference earlier today to clear all doubts that the people may have on the issue. According to the Council, the rumours are false and unreasonable. "There is no truth in it!" Replied the spokesman of the council.

Incidentally, the issue came about during the recent elections preparations. Two of the Council nominees were allegedly spotted in a park, engaging in 'indecent acts', as reported by readers of the Interstate Night papers. The 'news' thus spread across the whole of the Republic, endangering the reputations of not only the two condemned nominees, but the Council as well.

Correspondents @ Times et Meridiana have checked with the editors of the Interstate Night papers. It seems that the 'readers', whoever they are, have made a serious mistake. As the editors showed in the original article, the news bore no name, no state, and was entirely about two individuals kissing in the park. The relieved, but now angry, Council has announced that anyone capable of pointing out the original slanderer will be rewarded, and the slanderer sued.

The spokesman of the Council referred to this incident as 'a disgrace to the individual minds of the people', and 'never again should anyone question the validity of any candidate.'
