Although the name sounded unorthodox, the L.H.S. is actually a Liberal organisation based on core values targeted at bringing the people of Meridian to freedom. Under the cover of the 'blind followers of Hephaestus', people came from every part of the regime to participate in the 'activities' organised. It was the first and largest political activist group all had ever seen.
Hephaestus was happy. His dream of people power was realising through the society. The members of the society did not bother about how their leader looked, but rather the abilities of the leader to lead the people. A lame Hephaestus did not scare the supporters away. Physical inability was not a concern anymore. They loved Hephaestus all the more.
They were not constrained by their differences; Their disputes were put aside. For there was a brighter future ahead, where all the freedom laid. Members of the society, he sought. To do his will and democracy. Members of the society, Ahoy! Power to the council, that's the key!
The enlightened Hephaestus approached the Central Committee of the L.H.S., and discussed the plan of a constitutional change. What sacred plan, they asked. Hephaestus laughed and replied,"The Papal States shall help me." Everyone knew that the Papal States of Moe was the deciding power among the states. An influence on them would be hard, but fruitful if it succeeded. Hephaestus called upon the help of a few members of the society, whose relatives were linked to the Papal States. Through delicate connections and careful diplomacy, the LHS managed to change the constitution of Meridian. Authority relied less on the Lion then, and the council administrated a good state for the next few years.
